How to take care of our swimwear

Everyone has a favourite swimsuit> that they take special care of to keep it looking like new for as long as possible. Follow these simple handy hints to prevent the colour from fading and help maintain its elasticity First and foremost, you should buy good quality swimwear if you want it to last several seasons. Even if it costs a little more to begin with, you’ll soon save money because you can wear it for more than one summer. Khassani Swimwear is designed in Europe using high-quality material, made of 80% polyamide and 20% elastane (although the composition of some fabrics may vary). Follow our advice to make sure you care for your swimwear properly and can keep your favourite swimwear for as long as possible.

01. How to wash your swimwear ?

Chlorine and saltwater gradually break down the fabric of your bikinis. That’s why you should always rinse your bikini in fresh water after every use. However, don’t ever put it in the washing machine, as this could distort the shape. This is because washing machines damage the fabric fibres. The best way to wash your swimsuit is by simply rinsing it in lukewarm water. You can use Marseille soap or any other soap with a neutral Ph, if needed. Don't forget that suncream and hair oil are your lovely swimsuit’s worst enemies, so it’s best to try and avoid stains.

02. How to remove excess water from your swimwear ?

After rinsing your bikini, take it out of the water but don’t wring it out as this will damage the fibres. If you want to remove as much water as possible before drying, simply press your bikini into a ball in your hands. You can also dry it out flat by rolling it up in a clean towel. Never leave your wet swimming costume in its bag: the print might rub off if the swimming costume is rolled or folded while it is still wet.

03. How to dry your swimwear ?

To dry swimwear, hang it on a clothes line in the open air and away from the light. Don’t be tempted to put it in the tumble dryer, this will permanently damage your beautiful bikini. Never iron your swimwear. This could burn the fabric, or worse, melt it! And one last handy hint, if you have several bikinis in your wardrobe, try alternating every day. That way, your swimwear will have more time to regain its shape between washes and it will last much longer! We're counting on you, now you can take extra special care of your beautiful swimwear!

04. Avoid sitting on rough surfaces to sunbathe

This may seem obvious, but it’s a helpful little reminder. It makes sense not to sit on rough surfaces like rocks by the sea. Another little tip: the heat and the products used in hammams and saunas can damage your swimsuit. So, it’s best to use an old swimming costume in this case!
